Wish I had more to share with ya, but sleeping and having my family wait on me and my husband do chores is really no fun at all. But they are loving and wonderful and I am so lucky to have them!!

Finally a PPF!
Finally I can post on http://paintpartyfriday.blogspot.com after running around so much this week! I wanted to do my own spin on some subway art for this blank space in my living room. So I bought a canvas that was on sale at Hobby Lobby and painted it black first.
Then I decided what quote I wanted to use and I used my Cricut machine and cut the letters using contact paper. I used a removable one so I could get them straight and move them if I needed to. Then I just had some fun! I used acrylics, but I have to say I love oils for a big canvas like this because they move around and blend so much better. I even used some walnut ink and sprayed it here and there.
After it was dry I took the letters off I did use some sandpaper just a tad to knock down some of the black in the letters so they wouldn't look so solid. I then used some black soft pastel around the edges of the canvas and sprayed it with a workable fixative. I still need to add a protective sealant on it but it's so rainy and blah here today I'll wait till a better day.

Where have I been?
Well I have been running my kids everywhere! I thought when school started it would relax a little, but nope. I gotta run here and there and everywhere lately and I finally have a chance to catch up on my blog! This is a journal that I made. I wanted to try my hand at making one from an old book. I covered the front and back with fabric and the inside is watercolor paper. I did a collage on the front cover.
I think it turned out pretty good for my first try! I believe I'll be making some more of these!

The first collage on the first page! There is just something about that first page, just to get it started, that I love and couldn't wait to do! It is layers of soft pastels blended with my finger, best tool ever! I added some acrylics with some bubble wrap.

School is back in!!!
This has been a very busy week! Especially this weekend. Football started for both grade school and highschool so Saturday I spent pretty much the whole day at the football field to watch my son play and my daughter cheer. This is her squad! A bunch of lovely young girls!
This is my painting for http://paintpartyfriday.blogspot.com. She is on a canvas this time instead of my journal because I wanted to add wax as the final layer. She needs a key to heart if anyone can find one!! The number has absolutely nothing to do with anything other than the fact that I like it there!
The background is acrylics and I used some crackle paint on the sides, love that stuff. I've used others and it just never works for me but this one does, I think it's Tim Holtz. Oh I used a layer of vintage pattern paper I scrunched up and glued down first before I painted. I 'm getting ahead of myself today!
I glued down the images and used a watercolor pencil around the images for shading. I'm really loving the watercolor pencils and crayons lately!

Busy Busy!!
Well I have been busy around here lately I tell ya! It was this young lady's 19th b-day the other day! 19 boy how time does fly and makes me feel old!! She's beautiful and smart and I love her to death and hope she becomes everything she wishes to be!! The other two are going back to school next week so there's alot of cleaning rooms and getting rid of clothes that don't fit! Fun fun!
I have been working on this one here and there this week too! She's catching her jar of hearts! It is another page in my journal that I was doing for http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.com Summer of Color. Sadly it is over but there is gonna be one next year so be sure to check it out!
I started with washes of acrylics and then loaded a paint brush with lots of watery paint and let it run down the page. I let the dry and then used stamps here and there. I really didn't like this background and thought it was to bright so after I used the stamps I painted over it with a layer of gesso and it smeared the ink of the stamps but I liked it! It made it all dreamy and soft.
I added the borders on the top and side and then added the woman and her lovely wings and and hat. I drew the jar on watercolor paper and painted it with water color pencils and drew on the hearts and glued it on. I then added the border on the bottom of the tickets.
I drew on the swirl coming from the bottle and painted it with acrylics and added lettering in Sharpie pen. I drew on the hearts and painted them with a paint pen.

Summer of Color !
Ok third time's a charm!! I have written this out 3 times this morning and my brain is just mush today!! Anyways, I want to thank Kristin at http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.com for hosting such a wonderful and fun time! I have so enjoyed looking at everyone Else's art and their spin on things! Plus a big thank you to everyone who left such wonderful comments or even just to stop by and look at my pages! They mean so much!! I went ahead and made a collage of all my work. I really wanted to do a slideshow but Blogger wouldn't let me upload it. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it? Please let me know so I can start posting some videos of how I do my pages. So here it is..
Plus I wanted to make one last journal page that has all the colors in it! Plus this is how I feel most of the time!! Between kids and their stuff, football, cheer, the dogs, and oh my don't forget the hubby!!! Really it's hard to squeeze it in sometimes!!
the background is water color crayons I just colored all over the pages with each color. I then used some acrylics for the drips, really really watered down. I also used a little crackle paint here and there. For some reason I just don't have very much luck with this stuff. Maybe I don't use enough, more practice!! I used a script stamp here and there and some circles made with an old spool with paint on it for a stamp. Oh and a stars stamp too.
I added the images of the women in their polka dot bikinis!! hehe! I painted them with acrylics and a white gel pen for highlights. I gave them each something different on their suits and added the paint brush. I used glossy paint for the dripping paint onto the watch.
I added the stars and painted them with the Elmers paint pens and added the lettering with the paint pens as well. I use charcoal around everything and blended it out. I know that's not how you spell "tick tock" but that's how I wanted it to look on this. Oh I also used a stencil on here too in the background as well as a gel transfer of a ferris wheel. It's very faint, I don't even know if you can see it on here!

It's orange baby!
Well here's my orange for the week! I wish we had some more colors to go because I've really, really enjoyed this! Meeting some new people and new followers and seeing so much wonderful and beautiful artwork!! We had to add a favorite quote and I added "To practice art makes your soul grow" by Kurt Vonnegot. I love this quote because art does make my soul grow. When I need a pick me up, I go to art. When I need an escape from things, like teen-age drama, I go to art. It refreshes me and clears my mind ready for the next round!!
With this one I started with yellow, light orange and red pastels and just smeared them into the background. I sprayed it with a fixative so it doesn't get all over everything else! I then used some light orange, dark orange and white acrylic paints spread on with an old i-tunes card. (I have a ton of these things, my kids have i-pods!)
I then used a used sticker sheet, well wait it isn't a sticker it's those little white circles with the hole in the middle to re-enforce a hole in the paper. I used light blue paint and brushed it on like a stencil. Then I used some stamps here and there as well.

I drew the black and white image behind his head on water color paper and cut it out and glued it on behind this handsome man! I drew on the black and white border and used paint pens to color it in. I drew the circles in the border as well and also used the paint pen to fill those in. Oh I used a Sharpie ultra fine point marker for this as well. I drew the lettering on and then used paint , the paint pens and the Sharpie to color it in and add the detail as well. The dots are done with a white paint pen and the little flowers were drawn on and painted with acrylics and Sharpie for detail.

The thing with orange for me was trying not to make it look Halloweeny. I was still drawn to the black and white with the orange though, but I do like the way it turned out! Thanks for stopping and taking a look!! Hope everyone has an awesome day and hopefully I won't melt today!! It's so hot here!!
