Dirt bikes and Ice cream!

First I had to share some pics of my son Jordan on his dirt bike.

 Such a cutie! (if he read that he would die)

Of course Mr. Know it All here, had to give him a few pointers. He used to race too so he had some input on the subject lol!

Here is my next piece for Summer of Color. This week was Baseball Nut.

I started with a wood canvas and gessoed it. I added a layer of white tissue paper with Modge Podge and let it wrinkle for texture. I  then added the almond color and a little white blended in the background. When that was dry I added the raspberry colors. They ranged from red to pink to purple even and just mixed as  I went.

I added some of the colors to a used dryer sheet and smooshed it around till it was covered. I tore it into pieces and added it to the corners. Oh I almost forgot! I painted all of the keys first with acrylics.

I added the keys with a glue and then the doorplate and the girl(I used her last week to) and the heart and little spool.

Then the words I printed out from the computer and added a piece of scrapbook paper behind them and glued them down as well. Lastly I added some Diamond Glaze to the keys and the heart. Oh I did add some dots here and there first.

mInty!!

Ok here is number two for chocolate chip mint. As soon as I seen the color, or flavor, I knew I wanted to do something with a vintage feel to it.

I used a wooden canvas this time and started with a coat of gesso to the entire thing. Then I added some torn pages of vintage hymnal music. I painted on my mint and used some water and paper towel to wipe some away in the middle of the canvas. I used a darker green around the edges and scraped on some blue and white. I also used the brown around the edges after the paint was dry.

I made a transparency and transferred it in a couple of spots with a hand sanitizer. I don't use to much but just enough to transfer the image. If you use to much it will just moosh it around and smear the image.

I layed down the transparency then the girl. I added a vintage watch crystal that has some old lace inside. I used what was left of a book binding on the bottom and an old key. I added some old bottle caps I found over the weekend at an antique store as well. I had to, they had CHOCOLATE on them!!

 This thing, don't have  a freaking clue what it is, but I like it there! lol! I added an old door plate and little metal spools. One still has the thread on it. I finally went over the whole thing with some brown and black ink around the edges. Oh I did put some images on the side they are just of an old tape measure. I forgot to upload those!

I added some shading around the girl and everything with some black ink. This girl just looked like a sweet shyness. But the whole thing was because of the quote Keyhole to my soul. The reason for the key and the doorplate. I hope you enjoy her as much as I do! I love love all the wonderful comments I got for the first one! Thank you! Bottle caps!

Here's a few neat bottle caps I found yesterday while in some antique stores. The hubby and I had a 2 day no kids little getaway! It was wonderful! I just love all the wonderful comments on my collage for Summer of Color! Thank you guys so much! xxxxxoooo So I will be back to share mint choco chip with ya and please use these if ya want!

I scream for ice cream!!!

I couldn't help myself guys! When I saw this picture of this little girl it just popped in my head for her to scream " OMG I scream for ice cream!"

This one is a board canvas and I really like these because they are stronger and they have those sides I can do stuff on too.

I started with pieces of vintage paper from receipt books and glued them down. I then added some gesso to help blend them together. I added some washes orange and wiped some off. I used  a circle stencil to add some pink. I scraped on some white and pink as well and even let it run down the top.

I added some stamps and ink around the edges of the canvas and stamped the sides. I glued down the images and added some details and boarder at the bottom. I really like this one and it makes me smile and giggle when I see it so I think it served it's purpose. I do hope she makes you smile and giggle a  little to! So go play and make some art and a mess and have some fun!

Some pretty stuff!

Yay I have a moment to make a post!! Last week I went to a flea market and found these! I bought five cigar boxes of these vintage watch crystals. They were all full. They were from Germany and France. I did wash them up, I saved the stickers of course, and did this with a few of them.

I started with a scrap of scrapbook paper and added some vintage lace and a handmade cameo, made from polymer clay.  I then glued the two together.

I like the way these turned out, but I need a different glue. This one leaves a white residue on the inside.

I found this little dog tag. I just thought it was neat and for only $1 I'll find something to do with it. Maybe in a collage!! You might see it herewww.twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.com for another Summer of Color! This year is icecream colors! So much fun you should go and join in as well!

Last but not least I bought this little beauty. This was before we knew my daughter was having a boy. I thought she could decorate the baby's room with it if it was a girl.

 Well, I have no use for this little thing now, but I still love it!

It has the original lining and the handles and lid work. Oh well. I'll just look at it for now!

It's a boy!!

Ok first I have to announce that we are having a GRANDSON! This is him right here! We went yesterday for Sami to have her sonogram done, lucky for her that had a cancellation that day so they fit her in! It is always so special to see these first images of the baby. You see that there is a little person in there kicking you! So special! Ok I'll be back later with another post. Gotta take some pics but I just had to share this first!!

Lucky girl?

Lucky. Well to me she's wondering if she's so lucky! I scanned this because it's rainy here today and I had to crop out the very top of it. It is a little handle from who knows what that I glued to the top.

I started out with a new canvas from Walmart. I glued down a piece of scrapbook paper. I used a dark blue acrylic paint around the edges and watered it down and wiped some away leaving the middle fairly light. I scraped on some pink, yellow and light blue paint as well.

I used a stamp with some script and stamps that are numbers.

I added some old paper clips and scanned an old ruler. I didn't want to use it cause I might want to use it again! lol!

 I don't have a clue what this went to but the color worked and I liked it there, so it stayed.

 The little label holders came from, ya know I don't remember! Jo-Ann's, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, one of those!

I printed out the work lucky on a piece of card stock and glued it on the holder and then glued that on as well. I was going to put resin on this piece but it makes me nervous to do it! What if it doesn't set right then it's ruined! Has anyone else done that with resin?
