Finally a PPF!

Finally I can post on http://paintpartyfriday.blogspot.com after running around so much this week! I wanted to do my own spin on some subway art for this blank space in my living room. So I bought a canvas that was on sale at Hobby Lobby and painted it black first. Then I decided what quote I wanted to use and I used my Cricut machine and cut the letters using contact paper. I used a removable one so I could get them straight and move them if I needed to. Then I just had some fun! I used acrylics, but I have to say I love oils for a big canvas like this because they move around and blend so much better. I even used some walnut ink and sprayed it here and there. After it was dry I took the letters off I did use some sandpaper just a tad to knock down some of the black in the letters so they wouldn't look so solid. I then used some black soft pastel around the edges of the canvas and sprayed it with a workable fixative. I still need to add a protective sealant on it but it's so rainy and blah here today I'll wait till a better day.

Thanks for stopping and looking I hope you all have a great day!

Where have I been?

Well I have been running my kids everywhere! I thought when school started it would relax a little, but nope. I gotta run here and there and everywhere lately and I finally have a chance to catch up on my blog! This is a journal that I made. I wanted to try my hand at making one from an old book. I covered the front and back with fabric and the inside is watercolor paper. I did a collage on the front cover. I think it turned out pretty good for my first try! I believe I'll be making some more of these!

The first collage on the first page! There is just something about that first page, just to get it started, that I love and couldn't wait to do! It is layers of soft pastels blended with my finger, best tool ever! I added some acrylics with some bubble wrap.

Some charcoal around the edges of page and images and added some doodles with a white gel pen.

The heart map is a vintage map I found at a flea market last summer. I had cut out a heart for something else but saved the negative of it. I knew I would use it somewhere!

Thanks for stopping to look and visit! I do have a painting for Paint Party Friday since I've missed the last couple of Fridays(darn kids). So I will post that on Friday!! Hope you all have a great day and hope something inspires you today!
