Red week!

Red, I had alot of fun with this red! This one might just be my favorite one in my journal! I started by painting the background with red acrylics. I then mixed in a little black with the red and used a circle stencil here and there in the corners. I used an old ribbon spool dipped in white to add some more circles and some white splatters of paint.

I then added some stamps with black ink. I used some cut up vintage maps in the borders. I painted the boys shirt pink and added a little more depth to it. The boy and other images I found on Graphics Fairy and a Flicker group, I've had a brain fart and forgot to write down which one and from who!

I added a little dimensional glaze on the eggs, even though you can't see it here. I used a paint pen for the dots around the borders and highlights here and there and in the lettering as well. Then some charcoal around the edges of all the images and border and chalk ink on the edge of the pages. I really love this red! Thank you all for visiting my page and leaving such wonderful comments and thanks to my new followers too! I love seeing every ones art!! Hope everyone has a great day! Looks like we are gonna have a hot one today and the rest of the week here! POOL TIME!!!

FYI (snicker, snort) the d*mn people are standing on top of the dam. Gave me a chuckle! Like yur husband doing the crane! Mine would be like a weeble - he'd wobble and roll over.

Brain fart, *giggle*

ps I just cut out the letters I needed, I don't have a stash of cut out letters ready for use. That way would lead to madness, Lisa!

Lisa, I love this piece. Actually I love all your pieces, fantastic blog. I also thought the wooden spool was a great idea, I'm going to have to try that one, much better than coffee cups.

Wow...this is one of my favorite journal pages I've seen in a long time. You've inspired me to do a journal page for the purple challenge. I've been away from home and wasn't going to do one but my dusty journal is calling now!!
