School is back in!!!

This has been a very busy week! Especially this weekend. Football started for both grade school and highschool so Saturday I spent pretty much the whole day at the football field to watch my son play and my daughter cheer. This is her squad! A bunch of lovely young girls!

This is my painting for http://paintpartyfriday.blogspot.com. She is on a canvas this time instead of my journal because I wanted to add wax as the final layer. She needs a key to heart if anyone can find one!! The number has absolutely nothing to do with anything other than the fact that I like it there! The background is acrylics and I used some crackle paint on the sides, love that stuff. I've used others and it just never works for me but this one does, I think it's Tim Holtz. Oh I used a layer of vintage pattern paper I scrunched up and glued down first before I painted. I 'm getting ahead of myself today!

I glued down the images and used a watercolor pencil around the images for shading. I'm really loving the watercolor pencils and crayons lately!

I glued down the key and chain with gel medium and used watercolor pencil as well around it. The heart was drawn on watercolor paper and cut out. I used old snaps on the sides of the lock which is paper.

The words are from an old book and the number is a page number from the same book.

The final layer is a layer of wax. This can be addicting! You wanna wax everything! But it was late and kids first day of school today so I had to quit!:( Oh well there is another day! Thanks for stopping by and taking a look and hope you all have a great day!

I love this! I just love the way the wax makes the finished piece look. I think I am going to have to give it a try one of these days. :) I hope your kids have a great start to their year!!
