Circus quilt done!!

WEll that one is finished. I'll take a pic tomorrow when , hopefully we will have some sun!! So instead I thought I would show you these! I don't think I have already shown you. Well this one a teacher bought last year from me. It was made with vintage fabrics from the antique store. Love it!! It was a baby size quilt. She was hoping that if she had the quilts her daughter would make some babies to go with them!! Well she finally did get her grandaughter! So happy for her!

This one was for a cousin I think. Yes it was. Her room was pink and green! So cute! I hope everyone is having a good week so far. My hubby is gone on another fishing trip to Alabama, my parents went to Mardi Gras and I'm stuck here at home in Illinios.....BULLCRAP I Say!!!!

Just a quick post today. I've been busy working on the circus quilt for my aunt today trying to finish it up. After awhile I just get so sick of looking at them! This quilt here was quite a find! My mother had helped a friend out by cleaning up a house after the owner passed away and these quilts were left there and she didn't want to mess with them so my mother took them. They are from the 30's and 40's I think.

This one actually has a quilt inside a quilt. I'm eventually going to take it apart and see the rest of this pink and green one on the inside. I also got about 4 quilt tops not finished as well. They have been put up for so long they stink!!! I'll quilt them first then wash them, I don't want them to fall apart.

Finally I worked on a painting for my living room. I really wanted a bigger canvas, but since I didn't have time to run to Hobby Lobby, this is what I had. I layed down old book pages first then just layered paint. After the paint was dry I cut the works from my Cricut cutter from vinyl. The heart is painted from another piece of paper then applied on to the canvas. I added some netting and a key hole. Did some shading with oil pastels, love them!!

Then I covered the whole thing in a coat of beeswax. I love it how it turned out. Now I just need to get a bigger canvas for my other idea brewing in my head!!

The beauty of black n white...

Over at http://tracys-trinkets-treasures.blogspot.com there is a Black and White photo party so I thought I would join in too! This first pic is of my English Bulldog Zack. This is his permanent position. Every picture I take of this dog this is what he's doing...sleeping.

This lovely young lady is my daughter Meagan. She hates this picture and I don't know why, she took it. I just made it black and white and antiqued it in editing. This one is sepia and I just love this look. It's of an old truck that WAS in our junky neighbors yard until they hauled it off the other day. Noooo they took that truck! I Loved taking pictures of that darn truck!! Oh well..I don't think my husband will want me to find one to park in the back yard just for that purpose.

Antique store finds!

I just had to get out of the house today! I've been working on getting some quilts done and I needed some fresh air so I went to the antique store uptown. I found this cute little picture. It was a whopping $1.50, it was half off today. I like the broken watch. I'll take it apart and use if for a charm or something.

Gotta have the keys! I love old keys and these were all for $7.oo so they came home with me!!

I also found this little German prayer book for $2.00!

I don't know what I'll do with it, if anything, but I just love the pages!

Then I found some awesome tin type photos. $4.oo a piece. Is that a good deal on those? Really I don't know if it is, I just love the fact that their cheeks are pink! So that's my day. I am so tired today. We had some storms last night and the tornado alarm went off at 1 a.m. and my husband was up and watching t.v. to make sure we weren't gonna get blown away. I need a nap!!

Vintage doctor bag!

My parents go to an auction at least once a week. Well last week they had this vintage doctors bag! I have wanted one of these for so long! But every time I see one they are so expensive!

Well, I paid a whoping $6.oo for this thing!! I was so excited!

My dad called to see if I wanted him to bid on it. Well yea, bid on that darn thing!! So it came home to me and now lives on the top of my entertainment center with my ironstone! Yes I know..great find huh?

It has some vintage chandelier crystals on it as well.

It's a Bokeh party!

Over at http://tracys-trinkets-treasures.blogspot.com she's having a Bokeh party. I love this type of photography! I had gotten a new camera for Mother's Day last year, and I love this camera. These are a few pics of some tulips my dear hubby got for me for Valentines Day. I love tulips, so pretty and droopy and romantic!

This one I did do a little editing to. Oh even the first picture too. But I wanted to also show straight from the camera as well. Hope you enjoy them!

Our story?

Well I'm sorry to say we don't have a romantic story. We have known each other since high school. We didn't date though. He actually lived in another town about 30 min. away, but we had the same friends here in my town. After high school we went our separate ways. I went to Florida and he went to the Marines. OOHRAA!! I moved back to my home town and about a year or so after that he was out of the service and came home.

We met again at a club we all hung out at sometimes and he asked me out. Actually he said" so when are you going out with me?" Yea I know romantic huh? But yes I went out with him and we have been together ever since. For 16 years. I told ya, not really romantic, but there it is! You can read more at mydesertcottage.blogspot.com.
