Busy Busy!!

Well I have been busy around here lately I tell ya! It was this young lady's 19th b-day the other day! 19 boy how time does fly and makes me feel old!! She's beautiful and smart and I love her to death and hope she becomes everything she wishes to be!! The other two are going back to school next week so there's alot of cleaning rooms and getting rid of clothes that don't fit! Fun fun! I have been working on this one here and there this week too! She's catching her jar of hearts! It is another page in my journal that I was doing for http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.com Summer of Color. Sadly it is over but there is gonna be one next year so be sure to check it out!

I started with washes of acrylics and then loaded a paint brush with lots of watery paint and let it run down the page. I let the dry and then used stamps here and there. I really didn't like this background and thought it was to bright so after I used the stamps I painted over it with a layer of gesso and it smeared the ink of the stamps but I liked it! It made it all dreamy and soft.

I added the borders on the top and side and then added the woman and her lovely wings and and hat. I drew the jar on watercolor paper and painted it with water color pencils and drew on the hearts and glued it on. I then added the border on the bottom of the tickets.

I drew on the swirl coming from the bottle and painted it with acrylics and added lettering in Sharpie pen. I drew on the hearts and painted them with a paint pen.

I drew on the banner at the top and doodled the circles around the edges. I edged everything this time with a black watercolor pencil but on the woman I used charcoal.

I used a white gel pen for the detail on the swirl and the green border as well.

I thought she turned out pretty neat!

And this is what happens when you walk away for min and leave your art on the washer. Which is where I do my work at. It's the only room with great light! Silly cat!!

Summer of Color !

Ok third time's a charm!! I have written this out 3 times this morning and my brain is just mush today!! Anyways, I want to thank Kristin at http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.com for hosting such a wonderful and fun time! I have so enjoyed looking at everyone Else's art and their spin on things! Plus a big thank you to everyone who left such wonderful comments or even just to stop by and look at my pages! They mean so much!! I went ahead and made a collage of all my work. I really wanted to do a slideshow but Blogger wouldn't let me upload it. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it? Please let me know so I can start posting some videos of how I do my pages. So here it is..
Plus I wanted to make one last journal page that has all the colors in it! Plus this is how I feel most of the time!! Between kids and their stuff, football, cheer, the dogs, and oh my don't forget the hubby!!! Really it's hard to squeeze it in sometimes!!

the background is water color crayons I just colored all over the pages with each color. I then used some acrylics for the drips, really really watered down. I also used a little crackle paint here and there. For some reason I just don't have very much luck with this stuff. Maybe I don't use enough, more practice!! I used a script stamp here and there and some circles made with an old spool with paint on it for a stamp. Oh and a stars stamp too.

I added the images of the women in their polka dot bikinis!! hehe! I painted them with acrylics and a white gel pen for highlights. I gave them each something different on their suits and added the paint brush. I used glossy paint for the dripping paint onto the watch.

I added the stars and painted them with the Elmers paint pens and added the lettering with the paint pens as well. I use charcoal around everything and blended it out. I know that's not how you spell "tick tock" but that's how I wanted it to look on this. Oh I also used a stencil on here too in the background as well as a gel transfer of a ferris wheel. It's very faint, I don't even know if you can see it on here!

I used a white paint pen for the dots and highlights here and there. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you all find time to make some art today!!

It's orange baby!

Well here's my orange for the week! I wish we had some more colors to go because I've really, really enjoyed this! Meeting some new people and new followers and seeing so much wonderful and beautiful artwork!! We had to add a favorite quote and I added "To practice art makes your soul grow" by Kurt Vonnegot. I love this quote because art does make my soul grow. When I need a pick me up, I go to art. When I need an escape from things, like teen-age drama, I go to art. It refreshes me and clears my mind ready for the next round!! With this one I started with yellow, light orange and red pastels and just smeared them into the background. I sprayed it with a fixative so it doesn't get all over everything else! I then used some light orange, dark orange and white acrylic paints spread on with an old i-tunes card. (I have a ton of these things, my kids have i-pods!)

I then used a used sticker sheet, well wait it isn't a sticker it's those little white circles with the hole in the middle to re-enforce a hole in the paper. I used light blue paint and brushed it on like a stencil. Then I used some stamps here and there as well.

I drew the black and white image behind his head on water color paper and cut it out and glued it on behind this handsome man! I drew on the black and white border and used paint pens to color it in. I drew the circles in the border as well and also used the paint pen to fill those in. Oh I used a Sharpie ultra fine point marker for this as well. I drew the lettering on and then used paint , the paint pens and the Sharpie to color it in and add the detail as well. The dots are done with a white paint pen and the little flowers were drawn on and painted with acrylics and Sharpie for detail.

The thing with orange for me was trying not to make it look Halloweeny. I was still drawn to the black and white with the orange though, but I do like the way it turned out! Thanks for stopping and taking a look!! Hope everyone has an awesome day and hopefully I won't melt today!! It's so hot here!!

Purple Nurple!

Ok I love all the comments on my pages! They really make my day and just puts me in such a great mood!! Plus I get inspired seeing everyone elses artwork! In these pages for purple you also had to add some sparkly stuff!! So I wanted to use glitter and I wanted it to flow and fall out of the garden pot along with the stars. There is also glitter on the balloon and her curtain!

I started by laying down a couple of pages from an old book. I then used washes of dark purple, light purple and a little white and just blended them all together! Really the messier the better! When that was dry I added some smears of silver ink in a few spots and then some white paint splatters. I then made a really watery runny mess with some dark purple along the top of the pages and just let it run by holding the journal up. It helps sometimes to get the paint to run to spray the top with a little water.

I painted the garden pot green and added some highlights with paint pens and some a ultra fine point Sharpie pen. I painted his bow orange and added some numbers to his outfit.

For the glitter I just used good old Elmer's glue and drew it flowing out of the pot, wait maybe it's an urn? LOL!! Anyways, I then used Martha Stewart's glitter and just went from the silver and blue and purple and pink! I cut out the stars glued them on and then painted them yellow.

I then did my lettering with a paint pen and went around everything with a charcoal pencil to add some depth. I don't think I forgot anything, so thanks for looking at my pages and now I'm off to go look at some others!! Hope you all have an awesome day!!

Red week!

Red, I had alot of fun with this red! This one might just be my favorite one in my journal! I started by painting the background with red acrylics. I then mixed in a little black with the red and used a circle stencil here and there in the corners. I used an old ribbon spool dipped in white to add some more circles and some white splatters of paint.

I then added some stamps with black ink. I used some cut up vintage maps in the borders. I painted the boys shirt pink and added a little more depth to it. The boy and other images I found on Graphics Fairy and a Flicker group, I've had a brain fart and forgot to write down which one and from who!

I added a little dimensional glaze on the eggs, even though you can't see it here. I used a paint pen for the dots around the borders and highlights here and there and in the lettering as well. Then some charcoal around the edges of all the images and border and chalk ink on the edge of the pages. I really love this red! Thank you all for visiting my page and leaving such wonderful comments and thanks to my new followers too! I love seeing every ones art!! Hope everyone has a great day! Looks like we are gonna have a hot one today and the rest of the week here! POOL TIME!!!

It's brown!!

Well while Rosco is not my work of art, but he is brown! Plus with the touch of red in there he goes with my art piece today!! LOL!! So here it is! For some reason this brown just threw me. I don't know why I had a hard time with this color! I love brown!

I started with my journal and layered a couple of spots with some old papers. Then just added some browns of acrylic paint. Then some polka dot stamps and a couple of gear transfers in the background. I actually just printed them out on the shiny side of transparency paper and layed it down where I wanted it and burnished it on with my nail. It's suttle, but I didn't want it to stand out to much.

Love his eyes!! My daughter came in and was like" What the crap? "(she's 15, a teenager that explains alot!!)

I do like the touches of red, which is my pop of color. I don't know, I hope you guys like it. I'm glad you stopped to look! I love each and every one of your comments, they make my day! It's nice to have someone look at what you make, what YOU see, and get it. My lovely children think I'm weird and they don't get it at all!! LOL!! But it's ok, I make it for myself because it's me, it's who I am! It give me peace and sanity in between the "she's wearing my shirt" and "can someone come over and swim". Plus I do love it when art rubs off on them in little ways here and there! Anyways, thanks for looking at my man today!!! Gonna go look at some art!!! Have a awesome day guys!!

Just some silly stuff!

Just wanted to share some pictures of when we went for a drive to the lake the other day. I really just wanted to go to get some pictures at sunset and to get out of the house for awhile. Me being silly! Hey if ya can't be silly sometimes and laugh at yourself what's the point!!? And since my finger was in my nose..I didn't find any gold either! LOL!! (have you ever heard of that? Are you digging for gold?)

Seems like I can only get a picture of Jordan when he is not looking.

Some people of the damn fishing.

The bridge that goes across the damn. Exciting stuff I know! But I thought it was a pretty pic!

And yes my husband thinks he can to the crane from the Karate Kid movie!! lol!! He just kills me!!
